Starting Land Compensation from April... 585.3 Billion Won Invested to Develop Sports Complex, Multipurpose Gymnasium, and More
Daejeon City has passed the final hurdle of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's central investment review for the Southwest Comprehensive Sports Town development project.
Accordingly, the city will begin the full-scale land compensation process, starting with the announcement of the development restriction zone release and urban development zone designation in April.
The Southwest Comprehensive Sports Town development project is a plan to create a comprehensive sports complex, including a stadium and multipurpose gymnasium, along with residential facilities for about 4,700 households and parks, on approximately 760,000㎡ of land at 100 Hakha-dong, Yuseong-gu, with an investment of 585.3 billion KRW.
The Southwest Comprehensive Sports Town is intended to replace the aging sports facility complex such as Hanbat Sports Complex, established in 1964, and has undergone many twists and turns since it was first planned in 2011.
The city plans to develop the Southwest Comprehensive Sports Town as a sports complex where citizens can enjoy both health promotion and leisure activities, serving as a cornerstone for the century-long development of a first-class sports city.
Additionally, by creating the sports facility complex, the city expects to expand the insufficient sports infrastructure and contribute to residential stability by supplying more than 50% of the residential facilities as rental apartments.
Lee Jang-woo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, “We will develop the Southwest Comprehensive Sports Town, which will be a groundbreaking opportunity for the development of sports in Daejeon, into the best premium landmark comprehensive sports facility complex in Korea.”
