Daebo Golf Team Inauguration Ceremony with Bold New Year Resolutions
Competing in Both Korean and Japanese Asian Tours in 2024
"I Want to Win Many Titles for Two Consecutive Years"
Go Gun-taek, a leading star of the Korea Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour, expressed his confident aspirations.
At the launch ceremony of the Daebo Golf Team held on the 20th at Seowon Valley Country Club in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, he said, "I am grateful to be working with Daebo Group again," and expressed his appreciation by calling them "a sponsor that provides the best environment for players." He continued, "I will practice hard and win many tournaments. Since I won 3 times last year, I aim to win 4 times this year." Go Gun-taek competed in the Asian Tour last winter to assess his skills. He said, "I learned a lot by watching good players. It helped me prepare for the KPGA Tour."
Go Gun-taek is from Jeju Island. After representing the national team in 2016, he debuted on the KPGA Tour in 2020. In April last year, he recorded his first career victory at the season-opening DB Insurance Promy Open, and added two more wins in July at the Honors K·Solago CC Han Jang-sang Invitational and in September at the Shinhan Donghae Open. He became the first player in five years since Park Sang-hyun in 2018 to win three titles in a single KPGA Tour season.
Thanks to his brilliant performance last year, Go Gun-taek secured a 5-year card on the Korean Tour and 2-year cards on the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) and the Asian Tour. "I think I will participate in all three tours?Korea, Japan, and Asian?this year," he said, adding, "I plan to focus on Korea in the first half of the year." He emphasized, "As the defending champion, I want to defend my title at the domestic season opener, the 19th DB Insurance Promy Open (total prize money 700 million KRW), held on April 11 at La Vie Belle CC in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. I also want to win more tournaments in the remaining events."
