"Political Reality Is Regrettable: Chosen by Citizens but Not Nominated"
Democratic Party of Korea's Bae Jong-ho, a preliminary candidate for the National Assembly representing Mokpo City, expressed regret over the political reality where he did not receive party nomination despite the support and choice of the sovereign citizens of Mokpo.
On the afternoon of the 20th, Bae held a press conference at his election office and stated, “Although serious illegal election campaign activities were detected and police investigations are underway, and election campaigns violating party rules and guidelines were rampant, the request for reconsideration was not accepted.”

He emphasized, “Compared to candidate Son Hun-mo of Suncheon Gap, who was stripped of his nomination due to a much milder incident, this is truly hard to understand,” and added, “Such incidents must never be repeated.”
He continued, “I sincerely apologize to the citizens of Mokpo who generously supported and encouraged me, despite my shortcomings, to work for Mokpo,” and pledged, “My love and challenge for my hometown Mokpo do not end here. Although I did not achieve my goal of becoming a National Assembly member, I will devote all my capabilities to the development of Mokpo going forward.”
He also promised, “I will do everything in my power for the end of the Yoon Seok-yeol prosecution dictatorship regime, the Democratic Party’s victory in the general election centered on leader Lee Jae-myung, the advancement of democracy without retreat, and the change of government.”
Finally, he said, “I will never forget the kindness of the volunteers who worked tirelessly and invisibly without recognition, the many Mokpo citizens who attended the book launch and opening ceremony to support me, and those who contributed donations from their own pockets, and I will repay them throughout my life,” and expressed, “Once again, I extend my gratitude to the citizens of Mokpo and the Democratic Party members and comrades.”
