Confirmation of Ui-Banghak Light Rail Turnkey Method, Reducing Construction Period by 9 Months

The Ui-Banghak Light Rail Transit will be promoted using the turnkey method, which involves a single contract for both design and construction.

By proceeding with the project in a turnkey manner, the completion time can be shortened by approximately 9 months.

Dobong-gu (District Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced on March 19 that the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Construction Technology Deliberation Committee decided to adopt the turnkey method for the Ui-Banghak Light Rail Transit project.

Regarding this decision, Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, stated, "I am pleased that the district's consistent request has been reflected. We will continue to communicate and cooperate organically with related organizations such as the Seoul Metropolitan Government to ensure that the remaining procedures proceed swiftly."

The turnkey method, which allows partial overlapping (Fast-track) of design and construction, enables high technical capability and precise construction, and can advance the project schedule by about 9 months.

After completing the basic route plan by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in February, the Ui-Banghak Light Rail Transit is scheduled to undergo central investment review in May, bid announcement and various deliberations in July, with construction starting in 2025 and completion in 2031.
