The education is conducted by an occupational therapist who visits the homes of dementia patients to provide one-on-one customized education, including handicrafts, fine motor stimulation, and workbook activities, to prevent the progression of dementia by improving cognitive function.
Applications are open to any dementia patient residing in Seo-gu and can be made by visiting or calling the Seo-gu Dementia Safety Center.
Additionally, Lee Won-gu, head of the Seo-gu Public Health Center, participates in the program to directly observe the daily lives of dementia patients, provide coaching tailored to each participant to ensure smooth progress of the personalized program, and review difficulties faced by dementia families through caregiver interviews.
Lee Won-gu, head of the Seo-gu Public Health Center, said, “Through this program, we aim to help prevent and alleviate dementia symptoms in patients who face restrictions in outdoor activities, and we will continue to support consistent cognitive activities in the future.”
