Jeonbuk Jeil High School Fencing Team Scores 'Golden' Thrust at Korean Middle and High School Championships

Narrow 45-44 Victory Over Hongdae High School in the Finals

The fencing athletes of Jeonbuk Jeil High School clinched a thrilling victory at the National Middle and High School Championships, standing tall atop the podium.


According to the Jeonbuk Sports Council (Chairman Jeong Gang-seon) on the 20th, the Jeonbuk Jeil High School fencing team earned the honor of first place in the sabre team event at the '36th Korea Middle and High School Fencing Federation President's Cup National Men and Women Fencing Championships' held from the 14th to the 18th in Yanggu, Gangwon Province.

The Jeonbuk Jeil High School sabre team was composed of Shin Chan-min, Hwang Jun-hyun, Moon Hyun-min, and Hong Yun-jae. In the semifinals, they faced Gangwon Sports High School and won 45 to 42, advancing to the finals.


In the finals, they met Hongdae High School and secured a thrilling 45 to 44 victory by a narrow one-point margin after a fierce battle, claiming the championship and standing atop the awards podium. With this victory, Jeonbuk Jeil High School reaffirmed its status as a fencing powerhouse, and strong performances are expected in various upcoming competitions this year.


Coach Lee Jong-rok said, "Thanks to Principal Na Jong-seon and others at the school who have provided significant support to the fencing team, we were able to achieve good results. We will do our best to meet expectations."
