Jindo-gun Selected for Jeonnam-style Ecological Learning City Creation Contest Project

Jindo Gugija Blooms at the Heart of the Ecological Environment

Jindo-gun, Jeollanam-do has been selected for the 2024 Jeonnam-type Ecological Learning City Creation Contest to strengthen carbon neutrality practice capabilities and will carry out the project titled "Jindo Gugija, Blossoming at the Heart of the Ecological Environment."

According to the county on the 20th, this contest project, which operates lifelong learning programs linked to local ecological environmental resources, will be conducted with a project budget of 20.7 million KRW.

The county plans to utilize local ecological environmental resources and operate ecological environment education for all residents from next month until October, including △ production of eco-friendly products (such as soap) using Gugija △ operation of visiting ecological environment classes △ and regional specialization programs.

The visiting ecological environment classes will train professional instructors and provide various experiential activities on the theme of carbon neutrality for elementary school students.

In particular, the regional specialization program for seniors aged 60 and over, continuing from last year, will conduct ecological education to create a "365 Days Blooming Rainbow Jindo," including horticultural therapy and mini flowerbed creation.

A county official said, "Through this contest project, we plan to nurture professional instructors who can utilize Jindo-gun's ecological environmental resources," adding, "We will do our best to practice carbon neutrality through active participation for a 'carbon-free healthy future, clean Jeonnam.'"
