Hyundai Corporation Group has opened an export route to the U.S. postbiotics market in partnership with a domestic company.
On the 19th, Hyundai Corporation Group announced that it signed a supply contract for postbiotic raw materials with NURA, a U.S. food ingredient distribution company, together with Berm, a postbiotics specialist company. The contract size is a minimum order quantity (MOQ) of 10 million USD (approximately 13 billion KRW) over three years.

Since investing in Berm as a strategic investor (SI) in 2022, Hyundai Corporation Group has been seeking to expand export routes using the global network of its general trading company. Following successful exports to Europe last year, it also succeeded in exporting to Southeast Asia and Latin America markets, and this time secured a contract in the U.S. market, a 'big market' in the probiotics field.
Postbiotics, called the 'next-generation probiotics,' overcome the weaknesses of conventional probiotics that are vulnerable to heat. By applying heat-treated sterilization technology, the application range has been expanded to food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.
According to the global market research firm 360iResearch, the postbiotics market size was estimated at 2.6 trillion KRW last year. It is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 7.21% and expand to 4.3 trillion KRW by 2030.
Berm is a small but strong company that has focused on researching postbiotics for over 30 years. Leveraging excellent technology and mass production capabilities, it competes fiercely with Japanese companies in the global market. It was the first in the domestic food industry to be recognized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance as a high-tech project, and has obtained various certifications in the U.S., including GRAS (Self-Affirmed Generally Recognized As Safe) certification and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for medical device manufacturing and quality control.
A Hyundai Corporation Group official said, "We are pleased to widely promote Korean technological capabilities together with Berm, the number one company in postbiotics technology," adding, "We will strive to lead the market not only in postbiotic raw materials but also in food, cosmetics, and various disease treatments."
