Expanded into a total of three halls, ‘Gallery Sindang’ is expected to offer diverse cultural and artistic experiences as a visual arts exhibition space.

‘Gallery Sindang,’ expanded to a total area of 300 pyeong by connecting the existing 75-pyeong gallery with the convention hall, consists of three halls: G1, G2, and G3. It has been reorganized into a wider and more comfortable space, and plans to operate as a space where high-quality exhibitions can be experienced every day of the year.

The name ‘Gallery Sindang’ clearly reflects the location, purpose, and characteristics of the gallery situated near Sindang Station, while adopting the regional name ‘Sindang’ to honor the history and cultural heritage of the area.

Additionally, the character ‘신 (Sin),’ meaning ‘new,’ embodies the intention to provide fresh and innovative ideas and artistic experiences. ‘Gallery Sindang,’ which is easy to remember and has a unique feel, is expected to play an important role in introducing art and culture and connecting with the local community.

Previously, the Chungmu Art Center gallery has showcased exhibitions linked to education programs such as ‘Bo·tta·ri Minhwa’ and ‘Art Discovery’ for children, as well as ‘Being is Beautiful,’ featuring photos and interviews of people preparing for the end of life in hospice wards, and ‘Future of the Holocene,’ which introduced photography, painting, and installation art themed on global warming and the climate crisis.

Located at Sindang Station, a transfer station between Subway Lines 2 and 6, the Chungmu Art Center gallery has been loved by a wide range of visitors from young people to middle-aged and older generations due to its excellent accessibility. Under the name ‘Gallery Sindang,’ it aims to be reborn as a space that embraces both tradition and modernity, showcasing the diverse charms of art and culture.

Jo Se-hyun, president of the Jung-gu Cultural Foundation, said, “Gallery Sindang will establish itself as more than just an exhibition space, becoming a cultural and artistic hub in Seoul,” adding, “As a new artistic landmark in Jung-gu, Seoul, we aim to expand domestic and international artistic exchanges and contribute to the revitalization of local culture.”

The Jung-gu Cultural Foundation is preparing for the first exhibition at ‘Gallery Sindang,’ the CCPP International Climate Environment Photography Exhibition, scheduled for April. Detailed information can be found on the Chungmu Art Center website.
