Jin Gyo-hoon, Gangseo-gu Mayor, Inspects the Upper Park Construction Site on Gukhoe-daero

Review of Resident Inconveniences and Concerns Over Potential Safety Accidents

Jin Gyo-hoon, Gangseo-gu Mayor, Inspects the Upper Park Construction Site on Gukhoe-daero

Jin Gyo-hoon, Mayor of Gangseo District, visited the site of the National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park Development Project on the 19th to check the progress of the project.

On the same day at 4 p.m., Mayor Jin listened to explanations about the overall National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park project from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the design consultancy at the district office's main conference room, then headed directly to the site.

This is an important project aimed at improving the living environment in the Hwagok-dong area and transforming it into a resting place for residents, so he visited the site to personally verify the progress.

At the site, Mayor Jin carefully examined issues such as pedestrian safety and vehicle traffic problems, including residents' inconveniences due to traffic congestion and the risk of safety accidents, to see if there were any aspects that needed improvement from the residents' perspective.

The National Assembly Boulevard Upper Park project involves creating park and green spaces along the entire 7.6 km section of National Assembly Boulevard, connecting Sinwol IC to the National Assembly intersection. Approximately 4.1 km from Sinwol IC to the Mokdong Youth Training Center intersection will be undergrounded, and the remaining 3.5 km will have reduced road lanes to create urban forests, grassy plazas, community facilities, and more. The park will be a long linear park covering about 110,000 square meters, which is five times the size of Gwanghwamun Plaza.

The park will include eco-friendly green spaces called the Great Field, a musical fountain with lighting and music, a sunken plaza where children can freely play, and convenience facilities for residents.

The park development project, which began with basic and detailed design in 2016, aims for completion in June 2027.

Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “We will strive to create a nature-friendly space and a park where local residents can enjoy leisure activities,” adding, “We will ensure the park is perfectly developed to become a healing spot that residents can use safely and comfortably.”
