On the 19th, Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam held the inauguration ceremony for the 4th Women's Friendly City Citizen Participation Group at the Citizen Hall and presented appointment letters.
Through an open recruitment in February, the city selected 103 Changwon citizens interested in women-friendly policies as members of the Citizen Participation Group.
For the next two years, the Citizen Participation Group will play a role in proposing improvements to daily inconveniences in areas such as care, safety, urban spaces, and jobs, conducting safety monitoring, and suggesting policies for the creation of a women-friendly city and the development of city administration.
Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “I hope the Citizen Participation Group actively works to create a women-friendly city where all citizens, including women, children, and the socially vulnerable such as the disabled, can be happy,” and added, “Our city will also actively discover and promote welfare policies closely connected to daily life to improve the quality of life for our citizens.”
Meanwhile, Changwon City was designated as a second-phase women-friendly city in 2021 and has been implementing various policies such as creating women’s safety streets, monitoring public facilities, expanding women’s job projects, and establishing the Changwon Mom Community Center to support work-family balance.
