The programs offered include a total of 30 courses across 5 departments: ▲Citizen Participation Department with 10 courses (such as Our Village Ecological Interpreter Training Course), ▲Humanities and Social Sciences Department with 7 courses (such as Family Humanities through Kafka, Life Wisdom Learned from Western Philosophy), ▲Culture and Arts Department with 9 courses (such as Senior Model, Short Film Making by Hand), ▲Resident Health Department with 1 course (Walking Instructor Training Course), and ▲Chonnam National University Community Department with 3 courses (such as Poets Who Cultivated the Sentiment of Honam).
The programs will be held at the newly relocated Seo-gu Lifelong Learning Center starting from the 22nd of next month.
In particular, Seo-gu plans to provide high-quality educational services owned by universities through agreements with Chonnam National University, Health University, and others to residents.
Applications for the programs can be made after signing up as a member on the Sekeun University website, Seo-gu homepage, or the "Naeson-e Sekeun Dae Seo-gu" app (APP). Tuition fees range from free to 20,000 KRW depending on the program, and material costs are borne by individuals.
Mayor Kim Ikang of Seo-gu said, "We will spare no support to make Sekeun University Seo-gu a learning space for everyone where residents can receive high-quality education anytime and anywhere for their leap and growth."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu was approved for membership in the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) this year, stepping up as an international lifelong learning city. It has also led lifelong education policies that satisfy residents, such as being selected as a lifelong learning city for the disabled for three consecutive years and receiving the Good Policy Award for Lifelong Learning Cities in Korea for two consecutive years.
