Solid Electrolyte Company Solibis for All-Solid-State Batteries Secures 20 Billion KRW Investment

Solid Electrolyte Company Solibis for All-Solid-State Batteries Secures 20 Billion KRW Investment

Solibis, a specialist company in sulfide-based solid electrolytes (CEO Dongwook Shin), announced on the 19th that it has successfully completed a Series B investment worth 20 billion KRW from more than 10 leading domestic large corporations and institutional investors, including the Korea Technology Finance Corporation, KOSPI-listed companies, venture capital firms, securities firms, and financial institutions.

Solibis plans to use the funds raised from this investment to establish a factory for mass production and simultaneously expand pilot production facilities within its research center. Additionally, the company aims to strengthen its research and development (R&D) and professional workforce, as well as expand sales to secondary battery manufacturers and automobile manufacturers. Since its establishment in 2020, Solibis secured Series A funding in 2021 and invested a total of 15 billion KRW to build a central research center and pilot production facilities in the Misa district of Hanam, Gyeonggi Province.

Solibis is an innovative technology company based on an all-solid-state battery research institute and claims to possess numerous patents related to the mass production core technology of solid electrolytes developed through its own technology.

CEO Dongwook Shin holds a Ph.D. in Materials Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the United States and has conducted research on all-solid-state batteries while serving as a professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Hanyang University for over 20 years. He is recognized as a leader in the field of all-solid-state batteries and solid electrolytes, having led Korea's first national research project on all-solid-state batteries.

CEO Dongwook Shin stated, "Despite last year's worst-ever investment environment, successfully securing Series B investment is a remarkable achievement that demonstrates Solibis's mass production technology for solid electrolytes used in all-solid-state batteries is recognized in the capital market," adding, "We will strive to become the global number one company in the all-solid-state battery materials sector by 2030."
