Ulsan City and National Industrial Complex Enhance Capabilities of Their Own Fire Brigades

Formation of a Council Comprising 16 Companies Including SK Energy and S-Oil

On the 19th at 3 PM, the Ulsan Fire Headquarters will sign a business agreement in the main conference room of Ulsan City Hall to strengthen the capabilities of the Ulsan National Industrial Complex's in-house fire brigades.

This agreement, the first of its kind nationwide, aims to specialize the special disaster education and training for in-house fire brigade members and includes △support for education and training to enhance in-house fire brigade capabilities △joint development of in-house fire brigade education and training programs △technical consultation cooperation for training facilities at the Special Disaster Training Center.

The signing ceremony will be held with the attendance of Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, representatives from 16 member companies of the in-house fire brigade council including SK Energy and S-Oil, and will proceed in the order of participant introductions, mayor’s greeting, and signing of the agreement.

Through this business agreement, the capabilities of the in-house fire brigades will be strengthened, and a specialized joint response system with firefighting agencies will be established in the event of disasters in the national industrial complex, along with a system for real-time sharing of incident site information.

Ok Jin-gyu, chairman of the in-house fire brigade council, said, “We thank Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom for establishing the Special Disaster Training Center for the safety of the national industrial complex,” and added, “We will actively utilize the best education and training facilities to enhance our accident response capabilities.”

Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, “With this agreement, Ulsan is expected to build world-class infrastructure for hazardous chemical accident response,” and said, “This will lay the foundation to strengthen Ulsan’s international status as a safe city and to revitalize domestic and foreign investment attraction.”

Currently, 54 companies within the national industrial complex have formed and operate in-house fire brigades consisting of about 1,700 members, and there are plans to continuously expand the in-house fire brigade council by reviewing the effectiveness and practical impact of the training.
