Social economy refers to economic activities that, unlike market economies which prioritize maximizing profits, are based on people-centered solidarity and cooperation to solve community problems and needs while realizing social values. (Social) cooperatives, (preliminary) social enterprises, village enterprises, and self-support enterprises belong to social economy enterprises.
The Gangbuk-gu Social Economy Support Center is conducting a new close-support project for resident groups of five or more people or startup preparation teams who wish to enter the social economy as social economy enterprises.
If selected as a support target, up to 5 million KRW in project funds can be provided for establishment processes, prototype production, and education related to new businesses. This year, support will be provided to three startup preparation teams.
Lee Soon-hee, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "I hope this education will be an opportunity for the social economy in Gangbuk-gu to be part of residents' daily lives," and added, "We will strive to build a sustainable Gangbuk-gu that solves local problems through social economy."
