Geumcheon-gu Recruiting Youth Participation Committee Members to Represent Youth Opinions

Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it is recruiting youth to participate in the 13th Geumcheon-gu Youth Participation Committee until March 21.

The Youth Participation Committee is a participatory body established to allow youth, who are the main stakeholders in youth policy, to actively participate in the process of creating and implementing youth policies.

The district promotes this to help young people directly propose and realize youth policies, enabling them to grow into healthy democratic citizens.

Any youth aged 13 to 18 who reside in Geumcheon-gu or attend middle or high schools located in Geumcheon-gu can apply, and the number of recruits is 20.

The committee collects youth opinions to derive local policy agendas and seek solutions to propose policies. Selected youth members will also play roles in presenting, advising, and evaluating youth opinions on youth policies and projects. Based on the results of the ‘Youth Activity Demand Survey’ conducted with 3,000 local youths, public forums such as youth forums, debates, and policy proposal contests will also be held.

In addition, ‘integrated workshops’ will be conducted together with student councils of each school and youth operation committees of youth facilities to strengthen youth leadership, and at the end of the year, the Geumcheon-gu Youth Union Festival will be planned and operated.

Furthermore, various participatory activities will be carried out as representatives of Geumcheon-gu youth through democratic citizenship education, regular meetings, the Geumcheon-gu Youth General Election, and specialized projects related to youth autonomy.

Applications can be submitted via the QR code on promotional materials or through the Doksan Youth Culture House website. Final selections will be made after interviews on March 23, and announcements will be posted on the Doksan Youth Culture House website in March and notified individually via text message.

A certificate of appointment signed by the Mayor of Geumcheon-gu will be awarded, volunteer hours will be provided for activities, and souvenirs will be given to outstanding participants.

Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, “We will actively support youth to actively voice their opinions as members of the local community, strengthen their capabilities, and grow into future talents.”

For more details, inquiries can be made to the Doksan Youth Culture House or the Geumcheon-gu Office’s Child and Youth Division.
