[Tomorrow's Weather] Nationwide Spring Rain... Heavy Snow in Gangwon Mountain Areas

Afterwards, from the afternoon of the 19th to the early morning of the 20th, occasional rain or snow is expected in the central region, Jeonbuk, northern Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, and inland Gyeongnam. Precipitation will continue until the morning of the 20th in eastern Gyeonggi, inland Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, and northern inland Gyeongbuk, and until the afternoon of the 20th in eastern Gangwon Yeongdong, northeastern mountainous Gyeongbuk, and the eastern coast of northern Gyeongbuk. Jeju will experience rain (rain or snow in the mountains) between dawn and morning on the 20th.

Expected precipitation amounts are 5 to 30 mm in Gangwon Yeongdong, 5 to 20 mm in northern Chungbuk and northern Gyeongbuk, 5 to 10 mm in eastern Gyeonggi, western Gangwon, central Chungbuk, and southern Chungbuk, and around or less than 5 mm in Seoul, Incheon, and other regions.

Heavy snow is expected in the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon and the northeastern mountains of Gyeongbuk, where temperatures are low. Especially in the early morning of the 20th, snow may fall at a rate of 1 to 3 cm per hour in the Gangwon mountains and northeastern mountainous Gyeongbuk.

Snowfall amounts from the 19th to the 20th are expected to be 5 to 15 cm in the Gangwon mountains (with northern mountains exceeding 20 cm), 3 to 8 cm in the northeastern mountains of Gyeongbuk, 2 to 7 cm in inland Gangwon, 1 to 5 cm in the northern east coast of Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, northern inland Gyeongbuk, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo, 1 to 3 cm in eastern Gyeonggi, eastern Jeonbuk, and Jeju mountains, and around 1 cm in the central and southern east coast of Gangwon, southwestern inland Gyeongbuk, western inland Gyeongnam, and the northern east coast of Gyeongbuk.

As rain and snow fall, dry weather warnings will be lifted in most areas, but in some parts of Yeongnam and eastern Jeonnam, the dry weather warning may remain due to low precipitation.

Strong winds are expected nationwide from the afternoon of the 19th. On the west coast, southern coast of Jeonnam, coastal Gyeongnam, and Jeju, gusts will exceed 70 km/h (up to 90 km/h in the Jeju mountains), and in other regions, gusts will reach around 55 km/h.

At around the same time, strong winds of 35 to 60 km/h will begin blowing at sea. Waves will rise to 2 to 4 meters, with waves reaching up to 5 meters in the distant East Sea and southeastern distant South Sea on the 20th. As swells enter the East Coast, high waves will crash over rocky shores and breakwaters, so it is advisable to avoid going there if possible.

On the 19th, temperatures will range from a morning low of 0 to 10 degrees Celsius to a daytime high of 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, similar to average temperatures. Expected minimum and maximum temperatures in major cities are 3°C and 12°C in Seoul, 5°C and 10°C in Incheon, 4°C and 11°C in Daejeon, 5°C and 14°C in Gwangju, 6°C and 15°C in Daegu, 8°C and 15°C in Ulsan, and 10°C and 14°C in Busan.

From the night of the 19th, cold air will move southward again from the northwest, causing temperatures on the 20th to drop 2 to 5 degrees lower than on the 19th.
