President Yoon Declares Push for Exemption of Preliminary Feasibility Study on Goheung National Industrial Complex

Improving Living Conditions and Preparing Support Measures for Space Launch Vehicle Industry Development

Gong Young-min, former governor of Goheung County, Jeollanam-do, expressed a welcoming stance regarding President Yoon Seok-yeol's declaration to swiftly pursue the exemption from preliminary feasibility study (PFS) for the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex.

On the 13th, President Yoon Seok-yeol stated at the launch event of the Republic of Korea's space industry cluster triangular system for realizing a space economic powerhouse, “I promise to strongly support the successful promotion of the space industry cluster and will pursue the exemption from PFS for the Goheung Space Launch Vehicle National Industrial Complex (520,000 pyeong).”

Subsequently, at the public discussion held at the Jeollanam-do Provincial Office on the 14th, President Yoon said, “We will actively pursue the exemption from PFS for the private launch site and the Launch Vehicle Technology Commercialization Center, as well as the space launch vehicle national industrial complex, so that related companies can conveniently conduct business in Goheung,” reinforcing the establishment of the Goheung space launch vehicle industry cluster.

In response, Gong Young-min, governor of Goheung County, said, “Together with the residents of Goheung and 700,000 compatriots, I sincerely welcome this and deeply thank the government and Jeollanam-do for their efforts to firmly establish Goheung as the center of the space launch vehicle industry.”

Furthermore, Governor Gong stated, “We will prepare without any setbacks to ensure that the exemption from PFS for the space launch vehicle national industrial complex is confirmed as soon as possible, and we will establish essential infrastructure and bold support measures for companies to create a private-led space industry ecosystem.”

Meanwhile, Goheung County is concentrating all administrative efforts on attracting space launch vehicle-related companies to expedite the pursuit of the PFS exemption for the space launch vehicle national industrial complex.
