A husband who had cared for his wife during her long illness surrendered himself after killing her due to financial hardship.
The Yangsan Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that they have arrested and are investigating a man in his 50s, identified as A, on suspicion of murdering his wife.
A is suspected of causing the death of his wife, B, also in her 50s, at their residence in Mulgeum-eup, Yangsan City, around 5:20 p.m. on the 17th.
According to the police, A had been caring for B, who suffered from a stroke, for 10 years, but after experiencing financial difficulties, he became despondent and committed the crime.
The economic hardship of A's family reportedly worsened last year when A lost his job. About four hours after the incident, A called 112 and confessed to the crime.
The police plan to conduct an autopsy on the day, complete the investigation of A, and then apply for an arrest warrant.
