Poca Album Sales Exceed 3 Million
K-Pop Boy Group Audition... Debut in the Second Half of the Year
Global entertainment platform Makestar achieved sales of 95.6 billion KRW last year.
On the 18th, Makestar announced that it recorded sales of 95.6 billion KRW in 2023, marking a 100% growth compared to the previous year.
Makestar has shown a steep growth trend every year. Sales reached 4 billion KRW in 2019, 10.8 billion KRW in 2020, 29.7 billion KRW in 2021, 47.9 billion KRW in 2022, and 95.6 billion KRW in 2023, with an operating profit of 3 billion KRW.
Founded in 2015, Makestar is a startup that rapidly grew by actively targeting domestic and international K-pop fandoms. As of 2023, users from 239 countries worldwide visit the platform, and sales occur in 185 countries including the United States and Japan, establishing itself as a global entertainment platform.
Makestar recently pioneered the ‘Poca Album,’ a new album format gaining attention in the K-pop market, laying the foundation for new business expansion in K-pop growth.

Additionally, Makestar released Poca Albums for major artists such as BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, and Stray Kids, as well as photobooks and fan meetings. It also led the globalization of trot music by releasing the Poca Album for the music project ‘JS Enter’ from the show ‘Hangout with Yoo?’ featuring artists like Lim Young-woong and Jung Dong-won.
In 2023, Makestar worked with over 700 artists and completed 2,249 projects. The number of production companies involved reached 369. The cumulative sales of Poca Albums have also exceeded 3 million copies, showing significant growth.
Recently, Makestar announced a new business challenge by hosting a global boy group audition. Titled ‘MAKE NEXT GLOBAL K-POP BOYGROUP AUDITION,’ this audition process to select top-tier artists has been fully prepared by recruiting the best K-pop experts. The boy group selected through this audition program is scheduled to debut in the second half of 2024.
