The 'Indoor Gateball Court Construction Project' at Ilgwang Amusement Park in Gijang-gun, Busan is progressing smoothly with the goal of completion in the first half of this year.
The 'Indoor Gateball Court' at Ilgwang Amusement Park will be constructed on a site at 107 Won-ri, Ilgwang-eup, with a total floor area of 2,028㎡ and two above-ground floors, including two indoor gateball courts and four badminton courts.
Gijang-gun has invested a total project cost of 5.8 billion KRW and officially started construction in June 2023. The project is currently in the latter stages and is scheduled to be completed by June.
Once the indoor gateball court is completed, it is expected to become a community sports space where local residents can enjoy gateball and badminton regardless of the season or weather.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok stated, “The creation of the indoor gateball court will greatly improve the health of the elderly as well as the living sports environment for residents,” and urged, “Please focus on process management to enhance convenience for residents and ensure safe construction during facility use.”
The 'Ilgwang Amusement Park Development Project' is a project to create a multipurpose civic park in the eastern Busan area, including the County Sports Park (National Sports Center and Indoor Gateball Court), World Cup Village (Comprehensive Stadium, Youth Hostel, Soccer Park), and Baseball Theme Park (Regulation Stadium, Little and Softball Fields, Museum, Experience Center, and Practice Field).
It is expected not only to drive local economic revitalization through hosting various competitions and visits by sportspeople nationwide but also to play a significant role in enhancing the county’s brand image as a new regional landmark.
