Deputy Minister O Gi-ung of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Deputy Minister Song Myeong-dal of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries visited the site of the Onnuri Gift Certificate refund event being held at Doma Big Market in Daejeon that afternoon.

The Onnuri Gift Certificate refund event is conducted by returning Onnuri Gift Certificates up to a limit of 20,000 KRW to consumers who purchase domestic seafood at traditional markets, based on the purchase amount. This month's event is held at 66 markets nationwide. After purchasing domestic seafood at a participating market, consumers bring their receipts and identification to the refund booth within the market, where their identity is verified and they receive the Onnuri Gift Certificate refund.

On that day, Deputy Ministers O and Song listened to the opinions of merchants and consumers at Doma Big Market and examined seafood price trends and the traditional market economic situation. They also directly purchased seafood using Onnuri Gift Certificates and demonstrated the refund process at the refund booth.

Deputy Minister O said, “The Onnuri Gift Certificate refund event helps reduce consumers' seafood purchase costs and increases sales for market merchants. As more markets are participating in the refund event through cooperation between the two ministries, such as Doma Big Market, we hope people actively utilize traditional markets.”

Deputy Minister Song said, “I visit price-related sites every week, and the Onnuri Gift Certificate refund event is very helpful for both consumers and small business owners. We plan to hold the event monthly until June. We will actively cooperate with related ministries, including the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, to maximize the effects of easing perceived inflation and revitalizing the local economy during the project implementation.”
