Tea Industry, Culture, Arts, and Sports
Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that on the 15th, it visited its sister city Hadong-gun to hold a meeting to discuss current projects aimed at enhancing exchanges in various fields.
The meeting was attended by Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, and Ha Seung-cheol, Governor of Hadong-gun, along with heads of departments related to the tea industry, culture and arts, and sports from both cities, as well as about 40 people including Park Chun-maeng, Artistic Director of the Boseong County Gugak Orchestra, and Lee Kwang-soo, Chairman of the Sports Association.
Boseong-gun and Hadong-gun, recognized as the leading representatives of South Korea's tea industry, formed a sisterhood alliance called Dawon-gyeol-ui (茶園結義) on January 17 to promote the tea industry and tea culture as well as to foster friendly exchanges in various fields.
This meeting was arranged as a follow-up measure to the sisterhood agreement, aiming to activate practical exchanges in various fields including the tea industry.
The main discussion points included: ▲ In the tea industry sector, plans to discover government-proposed projects, domestic promotion and sales through TV and other media, export and domestic and international sales, academic, exhibition, and cultural activities were discussed as ways to revitalize the tea industry in both local governments.
▲ In the culture and arts sector, it was agreed that the Boseong County Gugak Orchestra and the Hadong County Arts Troupe would perform cultural shows at each region’s representative festivals and share opportunities for cultural enjoyment through invitations to regular concerts.
▲ In the sports sector, plans were made to strengthen friendship and harmony by sharing cultural enjoyment through national competitions and friendly matches among sports enthusiasts in fields such as sports, baseball, and archery. On the 9th, the Hadong County Office soccer team was invited to the Boseong-gun workplace sports soccer tournament for a friendly match.
Additionally, both organizations exchanged premium tea utensils made by local masters and excellent local specialties such as Boseong tomatoes and Hadong minari (water dropwort), sharing the affection of sisterhood.
Ha Seung-cheol, Governor of Hadong-gun, said, “I hope that this meeting will deepen the bond between the two cities and expand exchange and cooperation projects into various fields.”
Kim Cheol-woo, Governor of Boseong-gun, said, “Boseong-gun and Hadong-gun have formed a Dawon-gyeol-ui (茶園結義) promising coexistence and cooperation rather than competition.” He added, “Let us expand human and material exchanges to achieve mutual development across all fields including tea culture and industry development, administration, economy, culture, arts, sports, and private organizations.”
Meanwhile, the 47th Boseong Dahyang Festival will be held from May 3 for five days under the theme “The Temptation of a Thousand-Year Tea, Boseong’s Proposal,” and the Hadong Wild Tea Culture Festival will be held for five days starting May 11.
