Enjoy Music with Videos of Indiana Jones, E.T., Star Wars, and More at the Concert Hall of Seoul Arts Center on the 23rd
The National Symphony Orchestra announced on the 18th that it will hold the 'John Williams Film Music Concert' at the Concert Hall of the Seoul Arts Center on the 23rd.
John Williams is a living legend in film music, being the only contemporary composer to have won the Academy Award for Best Original Score five times and nominated 54 times. This concert will feature John Williams' film music works such as 'Indiana Jones (1982)', 'E.T. (1984)', 'Jurassic Park (1993)', 'Schindler's List (1994)', 'Star Wars (1999)', and 'Harry Potter (2001)' along with video presentations.
John Williams is a composer who bridged classical music and the modern film industry by incorporating the musical heritage of late Romanticism into film scores. He created a sense of mystery of unknown worlds using only acoustic instruments rather than computer-generated sounds, enhancing the immersion of film narratives through music.
The National Symphony Orchestra, which has participated in film scores such as 'Taegukgi Hwinalrimyeo' and 'Seungriho', will once again demonstrate its presence as a theater orchestra specialized in narrative music such as opera and ballet through this performance.
The conductor will be Anthony Gabriel. Anthony Gabriel has conducted many film music performances on stage, including the premieres of 'Moby Dick' (Zurich Chamber Orchestra) and 'Superman' (Royal Philharmonic Orchestra).
He stated, "I have high expectations as this is my first visit to Korea in 28 years," and added, "The combination of piano, celesta, and harp is John Williams' 'signature sound,' and audiences will be able to experience that mysterious sound on this stage as well."
Media artist Choi Jong-beom will join to present media art inspired by scenes from the films. The vast cosmic scenes from 'Star Wars' and the magical world of 'Harry Potter' will be projected beyond the two-dimensional screen into the three-dimensional concert hall, providing an immersive viewing experience.
