On the 18th, the marriage information company OnlyU, together with the marriage information agency Bienarae, released the results of a survey conducted on 514 divorced singles nationwide (257 men and 257 women) hoping for remarriage in their twilight years. When asked, "What personality type is unsuitable as a remarriage partner even if you like their 'appearance' and 'financial capability'?" men chose 'sullen personality' (29.6%), while women selected 'impulsive temperament' (33.1%). Additionally, men answered in order: ▲luxurious tendencies (26.8%), ▲negative tendencies (20.6%), ▲sensitive personality (15.2%). Among women, the following were next: ▲negative tendencies (25.7%), ▲sensitive personality (19.8%), ▲sullen personality (12.5%).
An OnlyU representative explained, "There is a saying that men prefer fox-like traits over bear-like ones, but when women sulk and stay silent for a long time, it feels frustrating. Women, on the other hand, get startled by men who cannot control their anger and explode emotionally."
Furthermore, when asked, "What type of opposite sex do you find confusing as a suitable spouse in remarriage matchmaking?" 36.6% of male respondents answered 'coquettish type,' while 35.0% of female respondents chose 'devoted type,' each representing the highest proportion. Following that, men answered ▲devoted type (28.4%), ▲overconfident type (22.9%), ▲silent type (12.1%) in order, while women answered ▲overconfident type (30.0%), ▲silent type (21.0%), ▲coquettish type (14.0%) in order.
Finally, regarding the question, "What methods do you mainly use to increase favorability toward a remarriage partner?" gender-specific characteristics differed. Men most frequently answered 'hobby activities such as golf' at 31.5%, followed by ▲inviting to home (28.0%), ▲showing interest in the partner's family (21.0%), ▲using nicknames (12.5%). In contrast, more than one in three women respondents (33.5%) chose 'serving home-cooked meals.' This was followed by ▲using nicknames (27.2%), ▲hobby activities such as golf (17.5%), ▲showing interest in the partner's family (13.2%).
Son Dong-gyu, CEO of OnlyU, said, "When looking for a remarriage partner, even if there are 100 advantages, having one fatal flaw often prevents remarriage. It is important to objectively view your personality, values, and lifestyle from the opposite sex's perspective, correct what needs fixing, and restrain what should be restrained. This not only leads to successful marriage but also ensures a harmonious married life after remarriage."
