CJ CheilJedang's 'Gourmet Sobaba Chicken,' which surpassed 50 billion KRW in sales within 8 months of its launch last year, is now targeting the frozen chicken market with a new seasoned chicken product.


On the 18th, CJ CheilJedang announced the release of two types of 'Gourmet Sobaba Chicken Seasoned' (boneless and drumstick). Following the Soy Honey flavor, the company plans to firmly establish itself as the 'national chicken' by introducing a new seasoned chicken flavor, known as a 'soul food of Koreans' and a leading trend in K-food.

The 'Gourmet Sobaba Chicken Seasoned' also applies CJ CheilJedang's differentiated technology called the 'sauce coating method,' which evenly coats the sauce in a thin layer. This eliminates the sogginess typical of frozen chicken and maintains a crispy texture as if freshly fried, allowing consumers to enjoy restaurant-level texture and flavor at home.


In particular, the special seasoning sauce, made with spicy seasoning mixed with honey and tomato paste, delivers a sweet and spicy taste loved by people of all ages. Additionally, it is available in two popular cuts?boneless and drumstick?so consumers can enjoy according to their preference.


To celebrate the new product launch, CJ CheilJedang has prepared various consumer promotions on 'CJ The Market' until the 30th. Customers who purchase the new product and write a review will receive CJ ONE points, and among the purchasers, a top buyer will be selected to receive prizes.


Meanwhile, amid rising living costs increasing the burden of dining out, consumption trends for processed foods, including frozen chicken, are evolving as alternatives to eating out. The frozen chicken market continues to grow steadily, reaching 155.8 billion KRW in annual sales last year. Especially, since the launch of Gourmet Sobaba Chicken, the market size from April to December last year increased by 14% compared to the previous year, leading market growth. The three Soy Honey variants of Gourmet Sobaba Chicken (boneless, wing, drumstick) surpassed cumulative sales of 54 billion KRW (based on consumer prices as of January 2024) since their launch in April last year.
