Upstage Establishes U.S. Corporation... Accelerates Global Expansion

Upstage announced on the 18th that it has established a local subsidiary in the United States, 'Upstage AI,' as a stepping stone for expanding its global business. Park Eun-jung, co-founder and Chief Science Officer (CSO) of Upstage, was appointed as the head of the U.S. subsidiary.

Upstage plans to leverage its self-developed SOLA large language model (LLM) and document AI products to explore collaboration opportunities with U.S. and global enterprise companies. To this end, it has established a base in Silicon Valley, California, where major IT companies including big tech firms are concentrated, and aims to expand business connections with local companies. In the long term, Upstage intends to broaden its overseas bases centered on North America to include Europe, Japan, and Southeast Asian markets.

Additionally, as its first move since establishing the U.S. subsidiary, Upstage will participate in the world's largest AI conference, 'GTC (GPU Technology Conference) 2024,' hosted by NVIDIA. This marks the first time Upstage has set up a solo booth at an overseas event to showcase its technology and products.

During the GTC period, Upstage will demonstrate the performance and use cases of SOLA to both online and offline attendees, offering various support events to help developers and companies adopt SOLA quickly and efficiently. Key engineers of SOLA, including Chief Technology Officer (CTO) Lee Hwal-seok and LLM leader Lee Jun-yeop, will attend special sessions to present their expertise in LLM modeling and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology.
