Seongnam-si Selected as an 'Excellent Institution' for Proactive Administration

Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province was selected as an 'Excellent Institution' in the comprehensive evaluation of proactive administration conducted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

The Ministry previously announced the excellent institutions after the 'Comprehensive Evaluation Team for Proactive Administration' composed of private experts and the 'Public Evaluation Team' evaluated 243 local governments based on five categories and 18 detailed indicators, including the establishment of proactive administration promotion plans, efforts to activate systems, implementation performance, and public perception.

Seongnam City received high scores as its event, 'Solomon's Choice (SOLOMON),' which arranges meetings for unmarried men and women, was selected as an excellent case of proactive administration.

The event was held five times last year, resulting in a total of 99 couples (43% of 230 couples) being formed.

The local government attracted attention for providing unmarried men and women with natural opportunities to meet and spreading positive values regarding marriage.

A Seongnam City official stated, "We plan to expand incentives for excellent public officials and share best practices to promote and establish a culture of proactive administration," adding, "We will make further efforts for field-centered proactive administration that citizens can feel."
