Also Distributing 88 Sets of Soil Mix to Support Maintenance of Box Gardens Distributed Before 2023
Applications Accepted on Geumcheon-gu Office Website from March 20 to 28, Selection by First-Come, First-Served
Seniors Aged 65 and Over and Persons with Disabilities Can Apply in Person at the Office's Parks and Greenery Division
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced that it will recruit applicants for the "Eco-friendly Box Garden Distribution Project," which allows cultivation of crops in small spaces within daily life, from 10 a.m. on March 20 to 10 a.m. on March 28.
The district will distribute 640 box garden sets for individuals and 200 sets for groups to residents. Each box garden set consists of ▲ a plastic box ▲ 50ℓ of potting soil (soil placed at the bottom of seedling trays) ▲ seeds or seedlings ▲ and a user guide.
Individuals can apply for up to 2 sets (2 sets per household, duplicate applications not allowed), and groups can apply for up to 5 sets. Applicants can choose only one type between Type A (seed provision) and Type B (seedling provision), and cross applications (1 set of Type A and 1 set of Type B) are not permitted.
Type A includes 2 packets of seeds (assorted ssamchae, red leaf mustard), and Type B includes 8 seedlings (lettuce, chicory).
Additionally, to support the management of box gardens distributed before 2023, 88 sets of potting soil (soil, compost, seeds) will also be distributed. Individuals can apply for up to 2 sets.
Only one person per household can apply, and applications for box garden sets and potting soil sets cannot be duplicated. Selection of recipients will be on a first-come, first-served basis, and if there are cancellations, additional selections will be made in order of application. To allow more people to experience the program, those who received distributions in the previous year will be assigned lower priority.
Applications can be made through the Geumcheon-gu Office website’s "Integrated Reservation" system. Seniors aged 65 or older and persons with disabilities who have difficulty applying online can visit the Parks and Greenery Division on the 11th floor of the district office in person to apply.
Selected recipients will be announced on March 29 (first round) and April 5 (second round) on the district office website and will also be notified individually via text message. Recipients must bear 20% of the purchase cost (approximately 8,000 KRW for box garden sets and 4,000 KRW for potting soil sets). Delivery to recipients’ addresses is scheduled from April 15 to 18.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “We hope residents will enjoy cultivating crops easily in their daily lives through the box garden distribution, experiencing healthy leisure activities and the joy of harvest.”
