Residents in Airport Noise Control Areas: Domestic Flights 4,000 KRW · International Flights 17,000 KRW, Up to 34,000 KRW per Person Annually for 2 Trips... Submit Ticket Receipt and Application Within 1 Year from Airport Use Date (Boarding Date), Payment Deposited to Account Within 30 Days
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Lee Gi-jae) announced that starting from the 18th of this month, it will support the 'Gimpo Airport Usage Fee' for residents affected by chronic aircraft noise in the airport noise countermeasure areas (including nearby areas), marking the first such support in the metropolitan area.
The airport usage fee is a cost collected by the Korea Airports Corporation from users of airport and navigation safety facilities in accordance with Article 32 of the Airport Facilities Act, and it is included in the price of airline tickets.
A district official explained, "This Gimpo Airport usage fee support project reflects the district's determination to proactively devise measures that can be taken immediately by the district itself, rather than relying on external support or merely making demands, regarding the long-standing issue of noise damage from Gimpo Airport."
To this end, the district revised the ordinance on supporting residents in airport noise countermeasure areas in December last year, establishing a basis for providing support using the district's own budget.
Through this project, the district plans to support up to 34,000 KRW per person annually, twice a year, covering 4,000 KRW for domestic flights and 17,000 KRW for international flights in airport usage fees.
The support targets a total of 165,343 people in 65,687 households residing in 11 neighborhoods within the Gimpo Airport noise countermeasure areas (including nearby areas) designated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport through the 2023 noise impact survey. Applicants must reside in the airport noise-affected area as of the airport usage date (boarding date) and application date. Foreigners registered in the airport noise-affected area and currently residing in the district as of the application date are also eligible to apply.
Applications for airport usage fee support can be submitted within one year from the airport usage date (boarding date) along with the required documents, including the application form, airline ticket receipt showing the airport usage fee, and a copy of the bankbook, to the Green Environment Division of the district office or the Yangcheon-gu Airport Noise Countermeasure Comprehensive Support Center (73 Gomdallae-ro 13-gil). After reviewing the documents, the district plans to deposit the support funds into the applicant’s bank account within 30 days from the application date.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae of Yangcheon-gu stated, "Rather than only making demands externally regarding the airport noise damage issue, we are launching the Gimpo Airport usage fee support project with the mindset of first doing what we can for our residents." He added, "We will continue to implement effective compensation measures that residents can truly feel."
