'Korea Orchid Luxury Grand Festival' Concludes... President's Award Honors Mr. Kim Young-gon

Held at Hampyeong Culture and Sports Center on the 16th-17th

The nationwide top orchid (蘭) festival, '2024 Korea Orchid Premium Grand Exhibition,' held at the Hampyeong Culture Center in Hampyeong-gun, Jeollanam-do, successfully concluded on the 17th.

Marking its 19th year, this grand exhibition was held spectacularly over two days from the 16th to the 17th under the theme 'A New Leap for Korean Choonran.' The event was hosted by Hampyeong-gun and organized by the Hampyeong Orchid Association. It is held every March in Hampyeong to promote the excellence of Korean Choonran and popularize orchid culture.

The opening ceremony took place grandly at 2 p.m. on the first day, the 16th, with about 1,000 attendees. The exhibition hall displayed over 450 Korean Choonran specimens, including flowers and foliage, capturing the footsteps and attention of visitors.

On this day, the prestigious Presidential Award was given to the work titled 'Jugeum Sosim-Mumyeong' by Kim Young-gon (57, Incheon), a member of the Korea Orchid Preservation Association.

Lee Sang-ik, the mayor of Hampyeong-gun, said, "Hampyeong-gun is the largest natural habitat of Korean Choonran," adding, "This exhibition captured the excellence of Choonran and provided an opportunity to popularize orchid culture and revitalize the local economy."
