From the 18th, Pohang City will begin accepting applications for the ‘Support Project for Installing Emission Reduction Devices on Old Diesel Vehicles and Replacing Construction Machinery Engines.’

This project is part of the ‘On-Road Vehicle Emission Reduction Project’ and aims to support citizens who find it difficult to scrap their old diesel vehicles early by covering about 90% of the cost for installing emission reduction devices on old diesel vehicles, and fully covering the cost of replacing engines in old construction machinery.

The eligible targets are diesel vehicles with emission grade 5 registered in Pohang City as the primary place of use, dump trucks manufactured up to 2005 under emission standards, and forklifts, excavators, loaders, and rollers equipped with Tier-1 or lower engines. Approximately 287 diesel vehicles and construction machinery will be supported with a budget of 1.681 billion KRW.

Applicants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Citizens wishing to apply can do so online through the vehicle emission website. For more detailed information, please refer to the announcement posted on the Pohang City website.

Kim Kyung-woon, Director of the Environmental Policy Division, stated, “This is expected to help improve air quality by reducing fine dust in diesel vehicle emissions,” and added, “We encourage many eligible citizens to participate in the emission reduction device installation and engine replacement support project.”
