NVIDIA Hosts Event Showcasing AI Future
Includes Various Sessions Featuring CEO Jensen Huang's Keynote
Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix Present HBM Technology Expertise
U.S. company Nvidia is hosting an artificial intelligence (AI) festival at home for the first time in five years since the pandemic. As Nvidia is gaining attention amid the AI boom, this event is expected to be the largest ever. Global semiconductor companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix will also showcase their flagship products and services, demonstrating innovation and advancements in AI technology.
Nvidia will hold the ‘GTC (GPU Technology Conference) 2024’ from the 18th to the 21st (local time) in San Jose, California. GTC is an annual conference hosted by Nvidia, characterized by the opportunity to explore AI industry trends and future technologies all in one place. This year’s event will feature 900 sessions, over 250 exhibitions, and dozens of technical workshops. The expected number of attendees, both online and offline, exceeds 300,000.
Nvidia stated, "GTC is the world’s best place where developers and members of the computing ecosystem gather to elevate each other," adding, "Leading companies from various industries and thousands of students come here to experience the best AI." They also noted, "GTC is evolving beyond simple technical lectures into a collaborative platform that shares knowledge and sparks innovation."
Jensen Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, will deliver the keynote speech on the first day of the event at the SAP Center in San Jose. Given the active discussions on AI development and adoption in the industry, he is expected to announce the latest technology trends. He may also introduce the company’s latest GPU products and AI services. At last year’s event, CEO Jensen Huang unveiled ‘DGX Cloud,’ a cloud-based software for AI model training.
Various sessions organized by Nvidia will include participants from AI-related industries and academia such as Disney Research, Google DeepMind, and Stanford University. Domestic companies including Samsung Electronics, KT, Notesquare, and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology will also attend to contribute to diverse discussions.
Samsung Electronics will introduce a case study of Nvidia Omniverse-based digital twins implemented in semiconductor fabs (factories). Digital twins are technologies that replicate real-world machines or equipment in a digital virtual world for analysis and prediction.
There will also be opportunities to experience AI products, technologies, and services showcased by global semiconductor companies. With AI emerging as the biggest business opportunity in the industry, Taiwan’s TSMC and MediaTek, as well as U.S. company Micron, will set up booths to welcome attendees.
Samsung Electronics will unveil for the first time its recently developed 12-stack HBM3E, a 5th generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM) product. It will also showcase 32-gigabit (Gb) DDR5 DRAM and universal flash storage (UFS) for automotive applications.
SK Hynix will demonstrate its memory technology prowess by presenting next-generation Compute Express Link (CXL) memory, 8-stack HBM3E, and registered dual inline memory modules (RDIMM) for servers.
