"National Table Tennis Players Gathered" ... Changwon Special Market Cup National Open Table Tennis Tournament Held

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced that the "12th Changwon Special City Mayor's Cup National Open Table Tennis Tournament" was held for two days from the 16th to the 17th at the Changwon Football Center Gymnasium and one other location.

Now in its 12th year, this table tennis tournament is a nationwide event for table tennis enthusiasts, hosted by the Changwon City Sports Council, organized by the Changwon City Table Tennis Association, and sponsored by Changwon City, providing a passionate arena for competition and exchange.


The tournament featured men's and women's singles and team events across divisions 1 to 8, conducted through preliminary leagues and finals (tournament format). A total of 1,123 players from all over the country participated over the two days.


At the opening ceremony, Hong Nampyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, "I sincerely welcome all participating athletes, their families, and officials visiting Changwon City. I hope you demonstrate the skills you have honed so far to achieve great results and create many wonderful memories while exploring various parts of the region."


Meanwhile, table tennis is a representative recreational sport enjoyed by people of all ages regardless of season or location, emphasizing respect for opponents and referees as a sport of etiquette. It is known as an exercise that enhances physical fitness such as agility, quickness, and endurance, as well as concentration and judgment.


Changwon City plans to actively promote various programs in line with the steady expansion of the table tennis population and the advantages of the sport, as well as build infrastructure such as installing spectator seats within gymnasiums.
