On the 17th, the Eunpyeong Police Station in Seoul applied for an arrest warrant for a man in his 40s, identified as Mr. A, who is suspected of murdering a woman in her 20s at an officetel in Eunpyeong-gu.
According to the police, Mr. A admitted during the investigation that he caused the death of the woman in her 20s, Ms. B. Ms. B was found dead at an officetel in Eunpyeong-gu on the night of the 14th.
The police responded to a report from Ms. B’s family around 9:40 p.m. on the 14th, stating they could not contact her, and upon arriving at the officetel, confirmed her death. Signs of suffocation were found on Ms. B.
The police received a verbal opinion from the National Forensic Service indicating that the cause of death is presumed to be suffocation based on the autopsy results. The exact cause of death will be determined once the final autopsy report is issued by the National Forensic Service.
Mr. A is unemployed and was found to have met Ms. B through internet broadcasting. Earlier, the police urgently arrested him at around 10:24 p.m. on the 15th at a comic book cafe in Guro-gu. Since Mr. A’s motive for the crime has not yet been clearly identified, the police plan to clarify it through further investigation.
