Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) is operating various educational programs such as job experience and mentoring at the Songpa Career and Job Experience Support Center (12 Macheon-ro 35-gil) until the end of the year to provide diverse career exploration opportunities for youth in the new semester.
Songpa-gu is a young district with the largest youth population among Seoul's autonomous districts, housing 95,000 young people. Last year, 70,000 youths gained career exploration opportunities through the Career and Job Experience Support Center, with an average satisfaction rate of 89.69%. In particular, the highest responses praised the excellence in program planning and composition.
Encouraged by this response, the district secured a budget of 380 million KRW this year as well, following last year, and is offering a variety of 36 programs across 7 fields. A substantial curriculum including various psychological tests, special lectures on school admission, and experiential education has been prepared to serve as a milestone for youths who have not yet set their career direction.
Especially, the newly established ▲Generation Empathy Career Camp is a communication program that helps family members understand each other through psychological and personality tests. Parents and children participate together in a 7-hour education process from testing to diagnosis, interpretation, and presentation, supporting youths to voluntarily set their career direction with family support.
Additionally, ▲Career Roadmap offers personalized one-on-one diagnosis based on interest, personality, and career test results to help individuals understand themselves ▲The nation's first parent transition guide for prospective middle school students, where retired career teachers provide various school admission information ▲Career Dreamers, a vivid job experience program conducted by mentors who are current and former professionals in various fields ▲VR experience programs that allow virtual reality exploration of various job sites such as oriental medicine doctors and sports marketers are operated year-round.
More permanent programs can be found on the Songpa-run Kkum Maru website. The nearest registration is on March 19, with online first-come, first-served recruitment every fourth Tuesday of the month. Participation is free, and detailed information can be found on the website or by phone inquiry.
