Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, planted a small bonsong pine tree at Dogo Middle School in Chungnam, where his father-in-law served as the first principal, recalling his father-in-law who would have turned 100 this year.
On the 16th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "To commemorate the 100th anniversary of my father-in-law's birth, I visited Dogo Middle School in Asan, Chungnam," adding, "because he served as the first principal of Dogo Middle School."
He continued, "(My father-in-law) taught at Gongju Middle School, Gang-gyeong Middle School, Nonsan Middle School, Yeongin Middle School, Byeongcheon Middle School, Yeongi Middle School, Cheonan Buk Middle School, and passed away while serving as principal of Cheonan Ipjang Middle School."

In particular, "He prepared for the opening of Dogo Middle School on a barren land and not only wrote the school song lyrics but also created the school motto," adding, "He had a special affection for the students and personally wrapped and distributed textbooks to each of them."
Furthermore, "He made nameplates for the parents, and my wife still remembers varnishing those nameplates," he recalled, "Looking at the faded photos from the time when my father-in-law served as the first principal, prepared by my elder brother-in-law, brought back memories."
He also said, "Together with my wife and her family, we planted a small bonsong pine tree on the school grounds," adding, "It was a meaningful day to honor my father-in-law. My wife was very happy, and I was happy too."
Earlier, on the 14th and 15th, Governor Kim visited three universities in the Chungcheong region?Chungnam National University, Kongju National University, and Hoseo University?holding meetings and special lectures.
