Thrown Raw Eggs at the Team but No Injuries
Past Mental Illness History... Club Confirms Intent to Punish

A man in his 20s who threw raw eggs at the Los Angeles (LA) Dodgers team upon their arrival at Incheon International Airport to participate in the 'MLB World Tour Official Opening Series' held at Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome was apprehended by the police.

On the 16th, the Incheon International Airport Police announced that they have booked Mr. A (24) without detention on assault charges and are investigating him. Mr. A is suspected of throwing raw eggs at the LA Dodgers team at the arrival hall of Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport at around 3:08 p.m. the previous day. The raw eggs thrown by Mr. A did not reach the team but broke on the floor in front of Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. It is reported that no significant damage occurred as a result.

The police arrested Mr. A within an hour and 30 minutes based on CCTV footage installed at Terminal 1. At the time of arrest, he was sitting on a passenger waiting chair on the 3rd floor of Terminal 1.

During the police investigation, Mr. A stated, "Why are they making such a fuss when foreign players come?" and "Why should we welcome them? I just felt bad, so I threw the raw eggs." He also claimed, "I did not throw the eggs to hit Manager Roberts," but "I threw them toward the team." It is known that Mr. A has a history of psychiatric treatment.

The police plan to contact the Dodgers organization to confirm whether they wish to press charges against Mr. A before deciding whether to send the case to the prosecution. Assault is a crime that requires the victim's consent for prosecution. However, even if no one was directly hit by the raw eggs, if they were thrown intentionally, assault charges can be applied.

Meanwhile, the LA Dodgers arrived in Korea via a chartered flight through Incheon International Airport the previous afternoon. The Dodgers will play a two-game MLB regular season opening series against the San Diego Padres at 7:05 p.m. on the 20th and 21st at Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome. This is the first time an official MLB game is held in Korea. Additionally, before the opening games, they will face the Kiwoom Heroes on the 17th and the Korean national baseball team on the 18th. The regular season games are expected to feature 'World Star' Shohei Ohtani, right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (both Dodgers), veteran pitcher Yu Darvish, and top infielder Kim Ha-seong (both San Diego), among others.
