What is the Secret to Maintaining a 'Top Integrity Grade' Emphasized by Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu?

Kim Kyung-ho, the mayor of Gwangjin District, has gained confidence in managing the district administration.

He has been receiving positive evaluations from residents by reflecting his warm consideration for employees in district policies and implementing advanced creative administration.

In particular, last year Gwangjin District received a 'Grade 1' rating in the integrity evaluation conducted for the first time by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, earning high praise not only from internal customers, the employees, but also from external customers, the residents.

Amid this, on the 15th, Mayor Kim Kyung-ho took the role of a one-day lecturer for a special integrity lecture at the first regular staff assembly of the year.

Gwangjin District, which had remained in the mid-to-lower ranks in integrity, made multifaceted efforts to improve vulnerable areas to corruption, and as a result, achieved a comprehensive integrity rating of Grade 1 for the first time since its establishment last year.

Mayor Kim stated that integrity is an abstract but crucial matter that public officials must uphold, and as a senior public official walking the same path, he wanted to share his thoughts together, which is why he organized this session.

Under the theme he personally proposed, "Analysis and Implications of the 2023 Comprehensive Integrity Evaluation Results," he analyzed the current status of Gwangjin District's integrity to sustainably enhance it and explained his convictions regarding the direction for improvement.

He especially mentioned factors worsening employees' perceptions and experiences of corruption, emphasizing the importance of trust between employees and managers, and urged managers to strictly adhere to public service ethics to create a transparent and honest Gwangjin.

Kim Kyung-ho, mayor of Gwangjin District, explained, "Integrity and kindness are two sides of the same coin. If you are kind to your colleagues and, further, to the residents, integrity will naturally follow," and added, "I hope everyone becomes the face of one another so that we can feel the fulfillment of working together with trust in an integrity-based organizational culture."

The participating employees responded with enthusiastic applause, pledging their commitment to improving integrity.
