The revision of the national curriculum for autonomous private high schools (Jasago) and international foreign language high schools, whose continuation has been confirmed, is expected to be completed by August.
The Presidential Committee on Education Policy (National Education Committee, Gukgyowi), a consensus-based administrative body under the President, deliberated and approved the "Plan for Establishing and Revising the National Curriculum in Accordance with the High School System Reform" containing this content at its 27th plenary meeting held on the afternoon of the 15th at the Government Seoul Office.
Accordingly, Gukgyowi plans to prepare a public notice including the credit allocation standards for Jasago, the major-related elective subjects for international foreign language high schools, as well as the organization and operation standards and subject-specific curricula.

Once the draft public notice is prepared, Gukgyowi will hold another plenary meeting to review and finalize it, thereby completing the curriculum revision process. Gukgyowi plans to complete all procedures by August.
The Ministry of Education had earlier decided to maintain Jasago and international foreign language high schools through measures to enhance public education competitiveness in June last year, and also completed the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act to restore the legal basis.
However, the "2022 Revised Curriculum," which was prepared assuming these schools would be abolished, does not yet include the major subjects for international foreign language high schools or the completion criteria for Jasago. The new curriculum is scheduled to be applied to new high school freshmen starting next year.
