Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su Visits Masan Medical Center with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo

Inspection of Extended Clinic Hours and Emergency Room Operations, Encouragement for Staff

On the 15th, Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, visited Masan Medical Center, which is extending its medical services to minimize the healthcare gap for residents caused by the collective action of resident doctors, along with Prime Minister Han Duck-soo and Changwon Mayor Hong Nam-pyo.


They listened to the difficulties and suggestions of the medical staff at Masan Medical Center and checked the operation status of the emergency room, a critical treatment facility, while encouraging the workers.

Governor Park said, "Masan Medical Center has played a significant role as a public medical institution in every emergency situation," adding, "We will work together with the government to overcome the healthcare crisis and strengthen the capabilities of public medical centers so that they can serve as regional base hospitals."


Gyeongsangnam-do Masan Medical Center was established in 1914 as the Masan branch of Jinju Jahye Clinic, was promoted to the provincial Masan Medical Center in 1975, changed to the local corporation Gyeongnam Masan Medical Center in 1983, and has been operating under the name Gyeongnam Masan Medical Center since 2006.

Currently, Masan Medical Center has extended its consultation hours since the 27th of last month to fill the medical gap caused by the suspension of work by resident doctors in the province opposing the increase in medical school admissions, and is maintaining emergency room functions 24 hours a day as a regional emergency medical institution.


The extended hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
