Drunk Driving Accident and Fleeing the Scene, Police Officer Sent to Prosecution

A police officer who caused a traffic accident while driving under the influence has been referred to the prosecution.

The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 15th that they have sent Sergeant A, affiliated with the Seobu Police Station, to the prosecution without detention on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act.

Sergeant A is accused of driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and crashing into a guardrail on a road in Geumho-dong, Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, around 1 a.m. on the 1st.

After leaving the scene without any special measures, he also caused a series of minor collisions by hitting parked cars in the parking lot of an apartment in Bongseon-dong, Nam-gu, where he resides.

Sergeant A's blood alcohol concentration was reported to be at a level warranting license cancellation.
