[Harumanbo] A Path to Taste Gapyeong... Gapyeong Course 20

9.3km from Yongchu Valley to Gapyeong Station

Course 20 of the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil is a 9.3 km trail from Yongchu Valley to Gapyeong Station. It takes about 3 hours to complete and has a moderate difficulty level.

The starting point, Yongchu Valley, is widely known for its stunning scenery. The path from here to Seungan 2-ri Village might be seen as the way out of a utopia into the human world. It makes you look back with a sense of longing.

Walking along Seungancheon Stream, you will meet Gapyeongcheon Stream. At Gapyeongcheon, if you take the right path in front of Gapyeong Bridge, you can see the Gapyeong Jat Village Market. This market is famous as a place where you can truly experience the 'taste' of the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil.

Gapyeong Jat Village Market is a permanent traditional market that opened in April 2015. From April to October, a Saturday market is held every week. If you walk the Gyeonggi Dulle-gil Gapyeong Course 20 on a Saturday, you must not miss this market. You can see and enjoy local agricultural specialties, handicrafts, and food from the Gapyeong area. As the market’s name suggests, pine nuts (jat) are the representative specialty of Gapyeong, which is the largest production area in the country. Pine nuts are considered a medicinal ingredient and are highly nutritious. They have long been said to be food eaten by immortals. At the market, you can also taste pine nut products such as pine nut Makgeolli, pine nut syrup, and pine nut tofu.

After satisfying your hunger at the market, it is also good to experience the Gapyeong Rail Bike. The rail bike starts from Gapyeong Station and continues to Gyeonggang Station, the filming location of the movie "Letter."

In front of Gapyeong Station on the Bukhan River is Jaraseom Island. Since 2004, it has been a popular spot bustling every autumn with the 'Jaraseom Jazz Festival.' People from all over the world visit Jaraseom. The name Jaraseom was decided by the Gapyeong County Place Name Committee in 1986. At that time, several candidates were proposed, but no decision was made. Then, since it faces 'Neupsan,' which is called 'Jaramok,' the suggestion was made to name it 'Jaraseom.' Everyone agreed with this idea, and it became Jaraseom.
