Dobong-gu Local Companies Open Path to the U.S. Market

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) announced on March 13 that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County (KACCOC) to promote mutual business cooperation and exchange.


The signing ceremony was held with the attendance of Dobong-gu Mayor Oh Eon-seok, Jim Gu, President of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County, and No Sang-il, Senior Vice President of the Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce in the U.S.


On this day, Dobong-gu and the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County discussed ways for small and medium-sized enterprises in Dobong-gu to enter the U.S. market and concretized plans for future cooperation between the two organizations.


According to the agreement, both organizations plan to continue exchanges and cooperation in various areas including ▲supporting trade activities and market entry in the U.S. for companies located in Dobong-gu ▲collaborating on business activities in Korea by member companies of the Korean American Chamber of Commerce of Orange County ▲promoting exchanges between economic organizations in both regions ▲sharing information related to trade and business environment.


Mayor Oh Eon-seok said at the signing ceremony, “We hope this agreement will serve as a foothold for local small and medium-sized enterprises to enter overseas markets such as the U.S.,” adding, “If we pioneered the Los Angeles market in the U.S. last year and this year, next year we will target the Atlanta market.”


In response, President Jim Gu said, “The 2025 K-Global Expo is scheduled to be held in Atlanta, U.S. We hope companies from Dobong-gu will participate in the expo,” and added, “We will actively support the entry of Dobong-gu’s small and medium-sized enterprises into the U.S. market.”


Senior Vice President No Sang-il, who was also present, stated, “The Federation of Korean American Chambers of Commerce will actively cooperate for business with Dobong-gu’s small and medium-sized enterprises,” and added, “We will also consider ways for young people from Dobong-gu to undertake internships at companies affiliated with the Korean American Chamber of Commerce.”


Meanwhile, the relationship between Dobong-gu and Orange County began at the 21st World Korean Business Convention held last October in Anaheim, Orange County, California, U.S.

At that time, Senior Vice President No Sang-il and President Jim Gu, who were the operations headquarters chiefs of the convention, personally welcomed Mayor Oh, who visited the event with the Dobong-gu small and medium-sized enterprise overseas market development team, guiding him through facility rounds and business explanations.
