Visit to Oryong Elementary Neulbom School in Muan, Jeonnam
Committed to Rapid Establishment of National Care System
President Yoon Suk-yeol stated on the 14th, "I will frequently visit the Neulbom School sites to ensure timely and swift support and cooperation."
On the afternoon of the same day, President Yoon visited Oryong Elementary School in Muan, Jeonnam, observed the Neulbom School program, and held a meeting with parents and teachers. Jeonnam, along with Busan, boasts a 100% participation rate in Neulbom School among all elementary schools in the province, ranking first nationwide.
First, President Yoon listened to the opinions of on-site teachers, Neulbom coordinators, the Jeonnam Superintendent of Education, the Governor of Jeonnam, and parents using Neulbom School, who are working hard to prepare and operate the Neulbom School for the first semester, and discussed measures to establish Neulbom School.
In his remarks, President Yoon said, "Jeonnam, which has many rural fishing villages, likely faces difficulties securing programs and instructors compared to urban areas, yet all 425 elementary schools in Jeonnam participate in Neulbom School, and 76% of first-grade students use it," expressing gratitude to the Superintendent of Education and on-site personnel who have worked hard to prepare Neulbom School.
He continued, "Since Neulbom School is a national task that can no longer be postponed, I ask everyone to join forces," and promised, "We will expand Neulbom School to all elementary schools nationwide in the second semester and do our best to establish a national care system more quickly."
Following the meeting, President Yoon observed the broadcast dance and creative art programs and said, "I thank the Neulbom School instructors and staff who support children to grow up healthily."
At the Neulbom School site visit that day, the government was represented by Lee Ju-ho, Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education; local governments by Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam, and Kim Dae-jung, Superintendent of Education of Jeonnam; and from the Presidential Office, Sung Tae-yoon, Chief of Policy Office, and Jang Sang-yoon, Senior Secretary for Social Affairs, were present.
