"CJ Bibigo Dumplings Cheaper Than Large Supermarkets"… Seven Eleven Targets 'Convenience Store Shoppers'

Customized Product Lineup for 1-2 Person Households

Convenience store Seven Eleven announced on the 14th that it will hold a large-scale discount event on more than 20 types of fresh foods, including eggs and tofu.

With the consumer price inflation rate re-entering the 3% range last month and prices continuing to rise, the prices of fresh foods, which are particularly sensitive to price changes, have surged by as much as 20% compared to a year ago.

In response, Seven Eleven focused on the significant increase in customers who purchase small-packaged fresh foods at convenience stores due to the rise in single- and two-person households, known as 'Pyeonjjangjok' (people who shop at convenience stores), and prepared this discount event. According to Seven Eleven, sales of fresh foods last year increased by 15% compared to the same period the previous year, with fruit and vegetable sales rising by up to 25%.

Seven Eleven will run the ‘Price Stability Godseongbi Event’ to respond to high inflation until the 31st. Among grocery items, the highly preferred ‘Goodmin Safe Eggs 15-pack’ will be sold for 3,900 won, ‘Goodmin Safe Eggs 10-pack’ for 2,900 won, ‘Goodmin Safe Bean Sprouts 300g’ for 1,100 won, and ‘Goodmin One Meal Tofu 300g’ for 1,250 won. All are available at 10-20% lower than the regular prices. Kimchi will also be offered at a 30% discount. ‘Bibigo Sliced Napa Cabbage Kimchi 900g’ is available for 7,700 won, and ‘Bibigo Chonggak Kimchi 400g’ and ‘Bibigo Yeolmu Kimchi 400g’ can be purchased for 5,900 won each. Two types of Bibigo dumplings are also sold at 8,000 won for two packs, cheaper than prices at large supermarkets.

As the school season begins in March, Seven Eleven will also introduce a ‘New Semester Event.’ It features various snacks popular among students, such as hot bars, smoked eggs, bread, dumplings, and hot dogs, and will run until the end of this month except for some products (until the 15th).

Joo Tae-jeong, head of Seven Eleven’s Ready-to-Eat Food Team, said, “As convenience stores grow as a grocery shopping channel, we planned this event to help stabilize living costs. Especially since we are focusing on expanding the number of fresh food products and securing price competitiveness, customers will be able to enjoy a variety of products at affordable prices even after the event ends.”
