Gyeonggi Province will hold a naming contest for the "Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Joint Response Team" from the 18th of this month until the 5th of next month.
The Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Joint Response Team has been operating since November 2021, starting in Bucheon and Hanam cities, and currently in Gimpo, Ansan, Paju, Hwaseong, Gwacheon, and Osan cities.
The Joint Response Team supports victims and families of domestic violence and sexual violence reported to 112. Police officers, counselors, and integrated case managers intervene in the issues victims express through phone consultations, remove situations causing violence, and provide information to support and resolve realistic needs.
Gyeonggi Province explained that the contest is being held to find a name that improves accessibility for victims, without causing discomfort, and that carries the meaning of restoring daily life and returning to a healthy social life.
Those wishing to participate can visit "Gyeonggi Province’s Voice" (https://vog.gg.go.kr) and submit their proposed name along with the meaning behind it.
Gyeonggi Province will select the final 12 excellent proposals through expert review and online verification of the submissions.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "There are many cases in the field where victims refuse support during the incident handling process or express stigma from being labeled as victims of violence," adding, "Considering these situations, we held the contest to find a name for the ‘Domestic Violence and Sexual Violence Joint Response Team’ that is easy to approach and can be called intimately without discomfort."
