Nowon-gu Mayor Oh Seung-rok Holds Meeting with Guatemalan Ambassador

On the 13th at 2 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Guatemala to Korea at the 'Cafe Train Scenery' cafe (608 Hwarang-ro, Nowon-gu).

Guatemala has one-quarter of its total population engaged in the coffee industry, with coffee accounting for over 30% of its exports, making it the 11th largest producer in the world. It is one of the countries that nationally strives to produce high-quality coffee.

The meeting took place following the invitation from the district to discuss the operation of a Guatemala booth at the 2nd Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Coffee Festival scheduled for May 11 this year, to which the Ambassador of Guatemala to Korea responded positively.

During the meeting, advice and discussions related to the successful hosting of the coffee festival were exchanged, and when Mayor Oh Seung-rok requested a congratulatory speech for the festival, the Ambassador of Guatemala to Korea gladly agreed, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere for sharing various opinions.

The district plans to invite ambassadors from major coffee-producing countries such as Kenya, Guatemala, and Ethiopia to the 2nd Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Coffee Festival. Additionally, production country booths will be operated to allow visitors to vividly experience the unique coffee flavors of each producing country, adding enjoyment to the festival.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, said, “I thank the Ambassador of Guatemala to Korea for accepting our invitation,” and added, “We will strive to discover various experiential events to ensure the successful hosting of the 'Coffee Festival,' which is becoming one of Nowon's five major festivals, and to provide visitors with diverse attractions and activities.”
