19th Next Chamber of Commerce President Election
Jang Won-gyu and Park Yoon-kyung in Fierce Competition
The Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Lee Jae-ha) confirmed and announced all 112 candidates (100 members, 12 special members) who registered by the February 28 deadline as the elected members of the 25th Chamber of Commerce on the 13th, following the resolution of the ‘3rd Meeting of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry Election Management Committee’.
The total sales of the 112 member companies elected as the 25th members (based on 2022 headquarters total) amount to 12.117 trillion KRW, accounting for 19.2% of Daegu’s total production (approximately 63.2 trillion KRW). By industry, there are 68 manufacturing companies (60.7%), 16 wholesale and retail companies (14.3%), 11 construction companies (9.8%), 3 financial companies (2.7%), and 14 others (12.5%), with manufacturing accounting for more than half.
Among the manufacturing companies, there are 21 machinery and metal companies (30.9%), 18 automobile parts companies (26.5%), 6 textile companies (8.8%), and 23 others (33.8%), with machinery and metal and automobile parts industries exceeding half. By business location, Dalseo-gu has the highest number with 34 companies (30.4%), followed by Dalseong-gun with 19 companies (17.0%), Buk-gu with 16 companies (14.3%), Suseong-gu with 14 companies (12.5%), Seo-gu with 11 companies (9.8%), Dong-gu with 10 companies (8.9%), and Jung-gu with 8 companies (7.1%).
Also, the average age of the elected members of the 25th Chamber of Commerce is 56.5 years, similar to the 24th term (56.2 years), and the number of female members increased from 4 in the 24th term to 8 in the 25th term.
The new members of the 25th Daegu Chamber of Commerce include 21 individuals such as Lee Yoohyun, Vice President of Guyeong Tech; Won Seung-yeon, CEO of Gukje Electric; Choi Sang-dae, CEO of Daedo Construction; Cho Hyunhong, CEO of Daecheon; Park Kwangbeom, CEO of Megagen Implant; Kim Myungyong, CEO of Myeongseong; Park Haedae, CEO of Mirae Tech; Bae Yonggeun, CEO of Baegwan Jeil; Kim Sangcheol, CEO of Bestool; Lee Jeongdeuk, CEO of Vision Digitech; Shin Jaegap, Vice President of Samwoo Construction; Gong Gunseung, CEO of Seongrim Advanced Industry; Jeong Youngjae, Chairman of Three H; Kim Youngseon, CEO of CMA Global; Choi Bogyu, CEO of IDR System; Jeong Yeonwook, CEO of Ajin P&P; Ahn Junghyun, Chairman of Ask Company; Park Yoonha, CEO of Wookyung Information Technology; Kim Jooyoung, CEO of Peace Industry; Son Giwon, CEO of Hwakyung; and Cho Sanghyung, Chairman of Daitect Research Institute.
Additionally, among existing member companies, Lee Yugyeong, President of Sambo Motors; Hwang Seokhyun, CEO of Wuil Chemical; and Choi Hohyeong, CEO of Daesung Hitech, are expected to continue their activities as Chamber members. Seven others, including Jeong Heehyung, Vice President of Dizen; Jeong Woopil, CEO of Seohan; Kim Seonggon, CEO of Joyful World; and Noh Giwon, Chairman of Taewang E&C, registered as new members due to changes in representatives.
The 112 elected members and special members will represent Daegu’s commercial and industrial sectors for three years starting from the 19th, engaging in various activities to promote regional economic development.
According to the election schedule, the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry will send election notification letters to the elected members and special members, and hold the ‘1st Extraordinary General Assembly’ at 2 p.m. on the 19th in the 10th-floor main conference room of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry to elect 52 executives, including one 25th chairman, 18 vice chairmen, 30 standing members, and 3 auditors.
It is known that two candidates, Jang Wonkyo, CEO of Hwaseong Valve, and Park Yoonkyung, CEO of KK, will compete in the race for the 25th chairman of the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
