Park Sang-chul, President of Honam University - Gu Jingzhi, Consul General of Guangzhou, Discuss Cooperation Plans

On the 13th, Park Sang-chul, President of Honam University, received a courtesy visit from Gu Jingqi, the newly appointed Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Gwangju, and engaged in a friendly conversation.


During the meeting held at the President's Office in the university headquarters, Park Sang-chul, Gu Jingqi, Vice Consul General Zhu Jihua (주적화), Kim Deok-mo, Dean of the Graduate School at Honam University, and Son Wan-i, Director of International Exchange and Director of the Confucius Institute, exchanged congratulatory remarks on the new appointment and discussed ways to activate friendly exchanges and strengthen continuous cooperation between Korea and China.

Consul General Gu Jingqi said, "I am well aware of Honam University's active efforts to promote friendly exchanges between Gwangju, Jeonnam, and China through the operation of the Confucius Institute and the Gwangju China Center, and I sincerely thank you for that. I hope that, in cooperation with the consulate, even more active and diverse exchange programs will be operated in the future."


President Park Sang-chul expressed, "I am grateful to the Chinese government and the Consulate General of China in Gwangju for their active support and encouragement, which have enabled Honam University to achieve many accomplishments in Korea-China friendship and educational and cultural exchange activities. We will continue to actively contribute to the development of Korea-China relations through close cooperation with the Consulate General."


Prior to this, Consul General Gu Jingqi and his delegation visited the International Exchange Office at Honam University and held a meeting with Chinese professors and international students.


The newly appointed Consul General Gu Jingqi is from Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, and began his career at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989. He has served as a consul at the Consulate General in Los Angeles, Political Counselor at the Embassy in Malaysia, Deputy Mayor of Sanya City, Hainan Province, Consul General in Istanbul, Turkey, Consul General in Surabaya, Indonesia, and Counselor at the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
